A honeymoon in Meghalaya does not need a different map, it needs a different pace. These itineraries cover the same hills everyone comes for - Shillong, Cherrapunji's waterfalls, the clear Umngot at Dawki and Mawlynnong - but planned for two people rather than a bus: later starts, viewpoints timed for when the crowds have gone, and enough unscheduled hours that the trip does not feel like a schedule.

You get a private car and one local driver for the whole trip, never a shared vehicle and never a different driver each morning. Every plan below is a starting point, not a fixed package. Move a day, drop a stop, add a night, tell us what you want the trip to feel like and we rebuild it around that.

One thing we are straight about: we do not book hotels. You pick the stays you like and book them directly, which keeps you in control of budget and cancellation, and we plan the driving around wherever you choose. Ask us and we will tell you honestly which villages are worth a night and which are better as a stop.

Laitlum Canyon

The one early start worth keeping - cloud sits below the ridge and is gone by mid-morning

Umiam Lake (Barapani)

Lakeside cafes and a quiet sunset on the drive in from Guwahati

Mawkdok Dympep Valley

The gorge viewpoint on the Sohra road, and the zip-line across it

Nohkalikai Falls

India's tallest plunge waterfall, best from June to September

Garden of Caves

Streams and small falls on wooden walkways, easy and unhurried

Shnongpdeng

Riverside camps 8 km past Dawki - a bonfire and the Umngot at your door

Umngot River, Dawki

Morning boating, before the day boats come down from Shillong

Mawlynnong & Riwai

Asia's cleanest village and a bridge grown from living fig roots

Three sample itineraries - 3, 4 and 5 days

The 4-day plan above is the one most couples book. Here is the same circuit at three lengths, day by day, so you can match it to the leave you actually have. None of these are fixed departures - we run them privately, on your dates.

3 days / 2 nights

Long weekend

The short version. Enough for Shillong, the Sohra waterfalls and one clear morning at Dawki, if you accept two full driving days.

  1. DAY 1Guwahati pickup, Umiam Lake at sunset, night in Shillong.
  2. DAY 2Laitlum at sunrise, then Mawkdok and Cherrapunji - Nohkalikai, Seven Sisters and the caves. Night in Sohra.
  3. DAY 3Early to Dawki for Umngot boating, Mawlynnong and the Riwai root bridge, then the drive back to Shillong or Guwahati.

No fixed price - send your dates on WhatsApp for a same-day quote.

4 days / 3 nights

Most booked

The comfortable one. Same circuit as the 3-day, with a riverside camp night at Shnongpdeng and an unhurried afternoon in Sohra.

  1. DAY 1Guwahati pickup, Umiam Lake at sunset, night in Shillong.
  2. DAY 2Laitlum at sunrise, late breakfast, Mawkdok and the Garden of Caves. Night in Sohra.
  3. DAY 3Nohkalikai and the caves in the morning, afternoon free, down to a riverside camp at Shnongpdeng.
  4. DAY 4Umngot boating before the crowd, Mawlynnong and Riwai, then back to Shillong or Guwahati.

No fixed price - send your dates on WhatsApp for a same-day quote.

5 days / 4 nights

Slowest pace

The one we recommend if you can take the leave. Nothing new is added for the sake of it - the same route just stops feeling rushed.

  1. DAY 1Guwahati pickup, Umiam Lake at sunset, night in Shillong.
  2. DAY 2Laitlum at sunrise, then Shillong at its own pace - Ward's Lake, Don Bosco Museum and Elephant Falls.
  3. DAY 3Mawkdok, Garden of Caves, Nohkalikai and Seven Sisters. Night in Sohra.
  4. DAY 4Sohra down to Mawlynnong and the Riwai root bridge, then a riverside camp night at Shnongpdeng.
  5. DAY 5Morning boating on the Umngot, the border viewpoint, and the drive back to Shillong or Guwahati.

No fixed price - send your dates on WhatsApp for a same-day quote.

Meghalaya Honeymoon Packages - FAQ

Updated August 2026

How many days do we need for a Meghalaya honeymoon?+

Four is the sweet spot. Three works if you accept two long driving days and one rushed morning at Dawki. Five is the one we actually recommend, because it is the only version where nothing is squeezed - same route, more time standing still in it.

Do you book the hotels for us?+

No, and we will not pretend otherwise. You book your own stays, which keeps the choice, the budget and the cancellation policy in your hands. What we do is plan the route around wherever you book, and tell you honestly which places are worth a night - ask us before you book and we will save you a bad one.

Is the car private, and is it the same driver throughout?+

Yes to both. One car and one driver for the two of you, for the whole trip. We do not run shared or group vehicles on honeymoon plans, and we do not hand you to a different driver halfway.

What does a Meghalaya honeymoon package cost?+

There is no fixed rate card, because the honest price depends on your dates, the season, the car and how many days you take. Send your dates on WhatsApp to +91 98637 89990 and you will have an exact, all-in quote for the car, driver, fuel, parking and tolls the same day.

When is the best time for a honeymoon in Meghalaya?+

October to April. Clear skies, the Umngot at its most transparent and comfortable nights for camping. June to September is monsoon - the waterfalls are at their most dramatic, but the Umngot loses its clarity and viewpoints disappear into cloud.

Is a riverside camp comfortable enough for a honeymoon?+

The Shnongpdeng camps are simple: a proper tent, a bed, a bonfire and the river a few steps away. Not a hotel. Most couples call it the best night of the trip, but if you would rather have solid walls, tell us and we will point you at a village homestay or a Dawki-side guest house instead, and you book whichever you prefer.

Can you arrange a cake, decorations or a private dinner?+

Sometimes, and it depends on the property you book rather than on us - we are a car and itinerary agency, not a hotel. Tell us well in advance and we will help you set it up with the place you have chosen, and we will be straight with you about what is actually possible where you are staying.
