Happy Yatra Travels is a local taxi and tour operator based in Shillong, Meghalaya. Every package here runs in our own cars with local Khasi drivers who do these hill roads daily - we handle the car, driver, fuel and a day-by-day route plan, and pick you up from Guwahati airport or anywhere in Shillong. Hotels are the one thing we deliberately leave to you: you pick the hotels, we drive. Rated 4.9 by Travellers.
This is the trip most travellers come to Meghalaya for: Shillong's pine ridges and Laitlum Canyon, the waterfall country of Cherrapunji (Sohra), and the transparent Umngot River at Dawki with Asia's cleanest village on the way - strung together at a pace that leaves room to actually stand and stare.
One car and one local driver stay with you for all four days: pickup from Guwahati airport or Shillong, and a route planned around your night halts in Shillong, Sohra and Dawki - we recommend trusted hotels and riverside camps at each stop, you book the one you like. Extend it to five or six days with Krang Suri, Phe Phe Falls or riverside camping - the circuit is yours.

Meghalaya Tour - FAQ
Updated August 2026
What does the 4-day Meghalaya package cover?+
Day 1 Shillong local, Day 2 Laitlum and the drive into Cherrapunji, Day 3 Sohra's waterfalls and caves ending at a riverside camp near Dawki, Day 4 morning Umngot boating, Mawlynnong and the Riwai root bridge - one car and driver throughout. We plan the three night halts and recommend good hotels and riverside camps at each; you book your stay directly.
Where do we stay each night?+
Night 1 in Shillong, night 2 in Cherrapunji (Sohra), and night 3 by the Umngot at Dawki–Shnongpdeng - tents with a bonfire, or a village homestay if you prefer walls. We recommend trusted places at each halt and you book directly. Boating is best in the calm of the morning, and you wake up already at the river.
Can the circuit be extended?+
Yes - the most popular add-ons are a fifth day for Krang Suri or Phe Phe Falls via Jowai, a night of riverside camping at Dawki/Shnongpdeng, or two extra days for Kaziranga National Park.
When is the best time for this circuit?+
October to April for clear skies and the famous glass-clear Umngot water. June to September is monsoon - waterfalls at full power, but boating at Dawki often pauses.
Can it start and end at Guwahati airport?+
Yes - most guests fly into Guwahati (GAU). We pick up at arrivals, and on Day 4 drop you back at the airport or station by night, or in Shillong if you're staying on.
How much does the Meghalaya tour package cost?+
There's no fixed rate card - the quote depends on your group size, vehicle, season and stay category. WhatsApp your dates and group size to +91 98637 89990 for an exact, all-inclusive quote the same day.
Do Meghalaya tour packages include hotels?+
No - and that's deliberate. We provide the car, driver, fuel and the day-by-day route plan; you pick the hotels, we drive. At each night halt we recommend trusted hotels and riverside camps across budgets, and you book the one you like directly, so you're never locked into a stay you didn't choose.
How do I get from Guwahati airport to Shillong?+
By road - Shillong is about 100 km from Guwahati airport (GAU), roughly a 3-hour drive. On every package we meet you at the arrivals gate and drive you up via Umiam Lake; we track your flight, so a delay doesn't cost you the pickup. We also pick up from Guwahati railway station.
What is the best season for a Meghalaya tour?+
October to April is the prime season - clear skies, comfortable days and the Umngot at its glass-clear best for Dawki boating. June to September is monsoon: Nohkalikai and Seven Sisters run at full power and everything is intensely green, but boating often pauses and you should keep a buffer day.
