Shillong has no major airport of its own, so almost everyone arrives through Guwahati - and the road between the two is the first real stretch of Meghalaya you see. It is about 100 km on NH-6, climbing out of the Assam plains at Jorabat, running through Nongpoh, and finally opening onto Umiam Lake before the last pull into Shillong. Allow around three hours door to door, a little more in monsoon or if you stop.

How long does the Guwahati to Shillong taxi take?+
About 3 hours for roughly 100 km on NH-6. Add 30-45 minutes in heavy monsoon rain, on long weekends, or if you stop at Umiam Lake for photographs. Guwahati airport adds about 25 km and half an hour on top.
Is the taxi private or shared?+
Private. You get the whole car and your own driver - no other passengers, no waiting for the vehicle to fill, and you leave at the time you choose. We do not run shared or pooled seats on this route.
Can you pick up at Guwahati airport at night?+
Yes, at any hour. Send us your flight number and the driver tracks the arrival, so a delayed landing does not cost you the car. Night arrivals are common on this route and there is no surcharge argument at the end - the quote is agreed before you fly.
