This is the week that gets you both of the Northeast's headline experiences in one run: the full Meghalaya circuit - Shillong, the Cherrapunji waterfall plateau, Mawlynnong and a riverside night on the Umngot - followed by Kaziranga National Park, the UNESCO-listed grassland that holds two-thirds of the world's one-horned rhinos. Seven days, one car, one driver, no repacking chaos and no backtracking: Kaziranga sits on the natural road back to Guwahati.
The Meghalaya half runs like our 4-day circuit with the riverside night included. The Kaziranga half gives you an evening arrival at Kohora, the dawn jeep safari next morning when sightings are best, and time for a second range in the afternoon. We plan all six night halts - hotels in the hills, a lodge near the park gates - and recommend trusted places at each; you book directly. Jeep safaris and park fees are paid at the park itself.

When is Kaziranga open for safaris?+
Roughly 1 November to 30 April - the park closes for the monsoon flood months. Dawn jeep safaris are the heart of it; January to March tends to give the best grass visibility. If your dates fall in the closed season, we will say so upfront and suggest the 6-day Meghalaya circuit instead.
Do you arrange the jeep safari?+
The jeeps are the park's registered safari vehicles, booked and paid at the range counters - not something any agency owns. What we do is make it painless: we time day 5 so you reach Kohora before evening, the driver takes you to the counter, and you are queued for the dawn slot in the right range.
Isn't the Shillong to Kaziranga drive very long?+
It is the longest day of the week - about 280 km and 6.5 hours - and we plan it as exactly that: a travel day with proper breaks, arriving in time for an early night before the dawn safari. The reward is that day 6 needs no driving at all beyond the park tracks.
Can we do Kaziranga first and Meghalaya after?+
Yes - the loop runs both ways and the reversed order works well for early-morning arrival flights: straight to Kaziranga day 1, safari day 2, then into the hills. Tell us your flight times and we will run the direction that wastes the least of them.
Where do we stay near the park?+
At Kohora, the central-range gate village, which has everything from simple lodges to full resorts. As everywhere with us: we plan the halts and recommend trusted places, you book directly. Book the Kaziranga night early for December-January weekends - the good lodges fill first.
How much does the 7-day package cost?+
