Six days is the length at which Meghalaya stops making you choose. The classic circuit - Shillong, the Cherrapunji plateau, Mawlynnong and the Umngot at Dawki - fits with room to breathe, and on top of it you get the two experiences every shorter plan sacrifices: a full day for the trek down to the double-decker living root bridge at Nongriat, and a Jaintia Hills day for Krang Suri and Phe Phe Falls.
One car and one local driver stay with you for all six days, and the plan is built around five night halts - Shillong, two nights in Sohra so the trek day starts fresh, the riverside camp at Dawki-Shnongpdeng, and Jowai or Shillong on the last night. We recommend trusted hotels and camps at each halt and you book directly. Not a trekker? The Nongriat day swaps cleanly for Mawsynram and Sohra's quieter falls, and the trip loses nothing.

Meghalaya 6-Day Package - FAQ
Updated August 2026
Is 6 days the right length for Meghalaya?+
For a first visit that wants to see it properly, yes. Four days covers the classic circuit at pace; five adds the Jaintia Hills; six is the first length that also fits the Nongriat double-decker trek without wrecking the day before or after it. Beyond six, the natural next step is Kaziranga rather than more Meghalaya.
How hard is the Nongriat trek, honestly?+
It is around 3,500 steps down to the double-decker bridge and the same climb back - 4 to 6 hours with stops, on legs that will complain the next day. Reasonably fit people do it all the time; it is not for bad knees or a heart condition. That is why we put it mid-trip with two Sohra nights around it, and why the swap to Mawsynram is built in.
Where do we stay each night?+
Night 1 Shillong, nights 2 and 3 in Cherrapunji (Sohra), night 4 by the river at Dawki-Shnongpdeng, night 5 at Jowai or back in Shillong. We plan the halts and recommend trusted hotels and camps at each - you book directly with them.
Can we do this trip without the trek?+
Yes, and it stays a great trip. Day 4 becomes Mawsynram - the wettest place on earth - with Wei Sawdong and the quieter Sohra falls, ending at the same riverside camp. Tell us when you book and we plan that version from the start.
When is the best time for the 6-day circuit?+
October to April - clear skies, safe trekking steps and the Umngot at its clearest. June to September has the waterfalls at full power but the Nongriat steps get slippery and Dawki boating pauses, so the monsoon version leans on Sohra and the Jaintia falls instead.
How much does the 6-day package cost?+
There is no fixed rate card - the quote depends on your group size, vehicle, days and season, with fuel, parking and the driver always included. WhatsApp your dates and group size to +91 98637 89990 for an exact figure the same day.
