Shillong Airport at Umroi - code SHL - is a small hill airport about 35 km north of the city, just off the Guwahati highway near Umiam Lake. Its flight list is short and changes by season, but when a flight does match your plan it is the best way into Meghalaya there is: you land an hour from Police Bazar instead of three and a half, and the drive in runs along the Umiam shoreline.
We meet every arrival the same way we meet Guwahati flights: your flight number is tracked, the driver is at the arrivals exit with a name board, and the quote agreed on WhatsApp covers fuel, parking and the driver. For departures we do the reverse - pickup timed backwards from your check-in, with a buffer for the one slow stretch through Umiam bazar. Should I fly to Umroi (SHL) or Guwahati (GAU)?+
Umroi if a flight fits your dates - it saves the whole 3.5-hour transfer. But its schedule is limited and seasonal, so most visitors still land at Guwahati, which has flights from everywhere. We run pickups from both airports, so book whichever flight works and we will meet it.
